a daddy to raise a lady

So... I absolutely love birthdays, especially when they belong to the one's I love. And my Dad is an especially special human being. I could never say all I wanted to say about him in a letter, but I figured I may as well try.

Dad,
Where do I even start? It is not rare to find beautiful people in this world, but finding people who change the world they live in is no small feat, and you, Dad, are one of those people.
You are so strong, and you love so well. You have encouraged me in my darkest moments. You scolded me and loved me when my heart was hard, and you raised me up to be a lady seeking no one's approval but her own and God's. You have loved your family unconditionally, and worked hard to provide for them. You have always given 100% and never shied away from hard work. You taught me that we don't always need to see eye-to-eye, but we must work together, and that in an argument, both parties are guilty.
Daddy, you are my hero. You are the greatest man I have ever known, and I love you so much. Thank you for being the wise listener when I just needed someone to talk to. Thank you for making me laugh with your corny jokes and filling my head with knowledge (because the world is a fascinating place). And thank you for comforting me, from 700 miles away, as my tears wet the phone cradled against my cheek. You cried with me, and you held me in your big, strong arms from far away.
I love you so much, and I couldn't be more proud to call myself your daughter.
Happy, happy birthday.
