 I am not a good photographer, but every once in a while I'll look at a photo and think, "dang Syd. Good on ya."

It is very difficult to explain my near-obsession with France. It's even harder to try and explain the importance this first trip to this country had for me. 

In 6th grade I decided I wanted to become fluent in French. Then I just... did. And that was that.

Sometimes I can’t sleep.

Usually it’s because my mind is alive with ideas, crowing and running through my brain begging to go somewhere.

Tonight is one of those nights. I’m dreaming and thinking of all the things I can do, all the things I could create, only stifled by the question “how?” and the steps between the dreaming and doing. I fight to think of ways to combat this stifling stillness marred by movement.

So that’s what we do – we create. We try to escape our minds by pouring it out on paper...

For the month of August I set out to write for at least 30-minutes every day. This was sparked by my finishing of Stephen King's book "On Writing" (which is very, very good, by the way. Part essay, part memoir, all-around excellent). 

Anyway, the conclusion of the entire book, after many chapters of excellent insight (I dog-eared more pages than I want to admit), he pretty much summed it up with a chapter that said: if you want to write, do it. 

Want to be good at something? Successful? Moderately...
